  • Junior Production 2023

    Wed 19 Jul 2023

On Tuesday evening, we all enjoyed our spectacular Junior Production of ‘What a Knight!’ The children sang beautifully and were captivating. I’m certain you enjoyed watching it just as much as the children enjoyed performing it. They have worked hard learning their parts with fantastic results. As stated on the evening, we are rightly proud of every single child and their performance. Thank you to the staff and all those who helped make this a very wonderful and memorable evening for the children and the amazing costumes – they were fabulous! I would also like to thank Reverend Julie for allowing us to use St Thomas’ Church. It was wonderful to see the church full of all our families and friends. As stated, events like
this is what makes Roughlee the amazing school it is!

  • Blackpool Trip 2023

    Fri 14 Jul 2023

The children had a fabulous day on Tuesday at Sea Life Blackpool. They thoroughly enjoyed learning about the fascinating creatures of the sea and what we can do to help with climate change – linking to our recent ‘Rubbish Day’. They also enjoyed playing on the beach, although their lunch was slightly interrupted by some very mischievous seagulls. Throughout the day, their behaviour was impeccable and they were all great ambassadors for our school.

  • Sports Day 2023

    Mon 10 Jul 2023

On Friday, we enjoyed a fantastic Sports Day. We did a variety of events including: Bean Bag Toss, Egg & Spoon Race and Skipping. This year's winning team was St David's, well done!

  • Rotakids

    Fri 30 Jun 2023

On Wednesday, our Year 6 children represented our school admirably at a Rotakids Sharing Event organised by Pendle Rotary, held at the Higher Trapp Hotel. At the event, our children shared all the wonderful charity work we have participated in this year and all the events we have done for the local village and school community. The children were amazing and thoroughly enjoyed their well-deserved lunch.

  • Rubbish Day

    Fri 30 Jun 2023

On Tuesday, we enjoyed a ‘Rubbish Day’ organised by Reverend Julie. Throughout the day the children explored the Story of Creation from Genesis and how the Bible tells us to be good stewards of God’s amazing world. The children enjoyed making Earth Day Marshmallows and Dirt Puddings, as they explored ways they can look after the Earth. They also created some fantastic junk models using recyclable materials. Throughout the day, the children focused on the 3 R’s – REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE. The day concluded with a fabulous game of compost bingo and we twinned our kitchen bin with a refuge centre in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our support is helping to fund social enterprise that helps creates jobs for over 4000 people who are employed to collect plastic waste and recycle it into brooms and paving blocks.

  • Whitehough 2023

    Mon 26 Jun 2023

The children thoroughly enjoyed Whitehough last Friday; it was a wonderful day and the weather was glorious. It was amazing to watch children of all ages working together to solve problems and to overcome some people’s fear of heights on the crate stack challenge. The children also enjoyed orienteering, the low ropes, obstacle course and archery. Thank you to all the staff for organising such a wonderful day and to all our families for your support on Friday.

  • New Sand Pit

    Thu 15 Jun 2023

Our Reception children are very happy with our new sand pit.

  • FORS Sponsored Walk

    Fri 09 Jun 2023

Thank you to all those who joined us for our FORS Sponsored Walk this afternoon. It was an enjoyable afternoon for all involved and the children raised an astonishing amount of money for FORS. This money will be spent directly on the children to provide the vast range of enrichment opportunities we are very fortunate to be able to provide free of charge, i.e. our Whitehough Trip next week. A huge thank you to all those who very kindly sponsored our children – it is greatly appreciated

  • Mad Hair Day

    Fri 26 May 2023

The children looked amazing today with their ‘Mad Hair’. The staff really struggled to award prizes for the most outrageous and creative hairstyles because everyone looked fabulous. After a long and thorough deliberation, prizes were awarded to Fatimah-Noor, Eesa, Evie, Aminah, Esme, Mia F and Fatima A.

Mad Hair Day was organised by our wonderful Rotakids in aid of cancer research, with all our donations going to The Little Princess Trust.

As part of today’s Celebration Assembly, Florence Whitehead (who is in Year 1) was incredibly brave and had over 11” of her own beautiful hair cut off. She is donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust to make a real hair wig for a very deserving child who has cancer. Florence has also raised over £1100, which the trust will utilise to provide two additional wigs for children. As a school, we are incredibly proud of Florence and the example she has set of how one person can make a real difference! Florence was rightly presented with a ‘Pride of Roughlee’ award – which was kindly donated by John Harrison Sports and Trophy Shop. Thank you to all our families who joined us in school today to support Florence. If you would like to sponsor Florence or learn more about The Little Princess Trust please click on:
