Thank you to all those who attended and contributed to our RSE parental consultation evening on Tuesday 14th January 2020. It was a very informative evening, where we discussed the statutory and optional elements of the new RSE curriculum, which will be implemented at the start of the new academic year – please feel reassured nothing has or will change until then. During the evening we shared with parents an RSE presentation, which was created by all the schools of the ‘Pendle Church Schools Together’ cluster. This presentation will be shared with parents from all the cluster schools, ensuring there is a consistent approach to RSE provisions for children in Pendle who attend a church primary school. This presentation is now available to view below. We also shared with parents our draft/proposed RSE Policy, which was devised in conjunction with our partnership schools and The Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education. This policy is also available below.
We appreciate that parents may not have been able to attend the meeting in school and therefore we invite all parents to view the presentation and draft policy below and would welcome any feedback before the end of February 2020. Parental feedback will then be collated and where necessary/appropriate the proposed policy will be amended before being presented to the school governors for approval in March. At parental request school will also endeavour to provide an RSE curriculum overview by the end of this academic year. Staff will then send home a more detailed outline of what will be taught within our RSE provisions at the start of each term.
