Thank you to the staff and residents of Marsden Grange for their lovely hospitality and Mrs Hezzlewood for organising this wonderful opportunity. Due to the popularity and success of our Healthy Minds After School Club it will return again during the Autumn Term next year.

    Fri 29 Nov 2019

  • Guide Dog Visit

    Fri 15 Nov 2019

The week started with a fabulous visit from David, Ian and Jeanette and their guide dogs Natalie and Norma. They explained to the children the important work that guide dogs do and the life changing difference they make to people with visual impairments. Currently in England we have over 2000 guide dogs, with a further 1400 guide dogs in training. David explained to the children the complexity of the training involved and how the money the children raised during ‘Pet Week’ will help towards Cookies’ training - the guide dog school is sponsoring. This was a fascinating visit, with the children learning a lot of facts and information. It was also important for them to see how their hard work, along with your kind donations are having a significant positive impact upon other people. This was really a very uplifting experience for all involved and the two dogs were exceptional.

  • Safety Day - November 2019

    Fri 01 Nov 2019

Today, as part of our health and wellbeing provisions, the children explored a variety of different safety topics. They all learnt about the importance of making right choices in order to keep themselves and others safe. During Celebration Assembly the children explored the ‘PANTS RULE’ and the importance of keeping their bodies safe. A guide for parents can be found on our school website and paper copies can be provided on request. Further information regarding the ‘PANTS RULE’ can be found at www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/underwear-rule/. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching the Pantosaurus cartoon.

The whole school explored the dangers within the family home; focusing on the hazards within the kitchen and the bedroom – with using portable devices in bed being the most common danger. The children also explored the dangers related to Bonfire Night and fireworks. Within the Infants the children learnt about road safety, whilst the Juniors learnt about water safety.
