  • Awards' Service - Autumn Term 2019

    Fri 20 Dec 2019

Thank you to all those who were able to join us in church this morning to share in and celebrate the children’s many achievements and successes this term. Congratulations to all those children who received an award - please see overleaf for a list of all our award winners. It is always pleasing to see the wide range of achievements and awards being presented; we are very blessed to have so many talented children here at Roughlee. It was also very pleasing to inform parents that Roughlee Church of England Primary School continues to significantly outperform other schools nationally, across all age groups and the curriculum. This is a testament to all the hard work of the staff, governors, families and the children themselves. Well done!

  • Christmas Lunch & Party

    Fri 20 Dec 2019

The staff, governors and children all enjoyed a scrumptious Christmas lunch on Wednesday. Christmas is the only time in the year when we all dine together, which makes it a very special experience for all involved. The children then enjoyed a very well deserved party, with a visitor from the North Pole bearing gifts. Thank you to FORS for everything they have done to ensure this was a magical experience for all involved and a special thank you to Margaret who works tirelessly all year round ensuring our children have access to high quality healthy school meals.

  • School Vision & Values Day 2019

    Fri 20 Dec 2019

The children worked in mixed age groups exploring how our School Vision and Mission Statement, which are underpinned by twelve core Christian Values, are relevant to their life both in and outside of school. The children enjoyed a wide range of creative activities, developing their understanding of how our distinctive Christian ethos permeates everything we do here at Roughlee. It was very wonderful watching the older children teaching and looking after the younger children.

  • Christmas Jumper Day

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

It was lovely to see all the children in their Christmas jumpers today in support of ‘Save the Children’. The school looked incredibly festive and we raised a lot of money for charity.

We have had many fund raising events and supported many worthwhile charities this term. It is hugely appreciated and indicative of the caring Christian nature of our school and families - thank you!

  • Singing at Roughlee Village Hall

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

The children were in good voice on Wednesday when they sang at the senior citizens’ Christmas lunch, at the Village Centre. Their singing and behaviour was exemplary. They are a credit to our school, their families and themselves. The audience kindly thanked the children with generous tokens of their appreciation.

  • A Midwife Crisis

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

This year’s Christmas production was fabulous! The children sang beautifully and were captivating, especially Amalie’s angelic solo. I’m certain you enjoyed watching it as much as the children enjoyed performing it. They have worked hard learning their parts with fantastic results. As stated on the evening, we are rightly proud of every single child and their performance. Thank you to the staff and all those who helped make this a very wonderful and memorable evening for the children. I would also like to thank our families for your generous donations and contributions towards the Christmas raffle.

A special thank you must be said to Faye, Kay & Ryan and all of FORS for organising and preparing the hampers; and providing all the refreshments during the production – your support not only at the production, but throughout the year is truly appreciated and makes a significant difference for the benefit of all our children. The FORS raised over £250.00, which will go directly to the children, providing them with a wide range of enrichment activities throughout the year and a school trip. These magical experiences for our children would not happen without our dedicated FORS team and your support, thank you.

  • Pendle Climate Change Summit

    Fri 13 Dec 2019

Maia & Khansaa attended the Pendle Climate Change Summit on Wednesday, following the Climate Crisis Pendle Borough Council declared in July. The girls were joined by children representing all the schools in Pendle and discussed a variety of ways climate change is adversely affecting our planet. More importantly they discussed ways in which we can help slow down the affects, which we will be implementing as a school in the coming months. They also had great fun learning fascinating facts about worms, bees, dragonflies and butterflies. Working with children from Marsden Heights High School the girls made a composting bottle, which again we will be making in school during this academic year.
