  It was wonderful to have the whole school together in Church for our Spring Term Awards Service today. School proudly presented the following awards:

• Day of Reflection

  School fell silent on Tuesday as we observed the minute silence. The children participated within the national Day of Reflection and were led in prayer by Kyan and Maria. As a school family we reflected upon the year; the children explored the devastating effects Coronavirus has had upon our lives, nation and the world. In recognition of the outstanding resilience and positive attitude our children have displayed throughout the pandemic, school proudly presented them all with a Star Award in church today – this is their trophy to keep.

  

• Egg Decorating

  The winners of the egg decorating competition were Kyan, Elif-Leyla, Hyder and Romana. All the children had great fun decorating their eggs and everyone received a Cadbury Cream egg for participating. 

  

• Easter Bonnet/Garden Competition

  Well done to all the children that have spent the time and effort to make their Easter bonnet or garden. You have all done a fantastic job! You will be given a small delicious prize in our Award's Service on Friday for your efforts. The winners from each class will also be announced on Friday! 

  

• Red Nose Day/Mad Hair Day

  School was awash with colour and exuberance today. The children looked fabulous with their very creative and wacky hairstyles – all in aid of Red Nose Day. School proudly presented every child with an official red nose, raising a lot of much needed funds for the charity. Thank you to all our parents for supporting school and who have clearly spent a long time decorating their child’s hair. 

  

• KS2 Life Education Visit

  Megan from Life Education visited school today and delivered a wide range of puberty sessions to our Junior children. Megan was very impressed with the maturity and behaviour of our children. She also commented on the excellent standard of questioning and participation from the children. This is extremely pleasing to hear and is indicative of the high standards clearly evident at Roughlee. Well done Juniors!

  

• World Book Day - Thursday 11th March 2021

  The children looked fabulous in their costumes and pyjamas yesterday. They thoroughly enjoyed their ‘World Book Day’ reading activities and learning about the importance of not using digital devices before bedtime – as this significantly affects the quality of their much needed sleep.

   

  As always, it was a very difficult task judging the children’s wonderful costumes, but after much deliberation, prizes were awarded to Evie Whitehead, Eva Foster, Hyder Husayn and Maria Wilmot.
