Thank you to all those families who were able to celebrate and share in our school’s and children’s many successes in church this morning. It is always wonderful to see the wide range of achievements being acknowledged (sports, academic progress, creativity, courtesy, music, determination, perseverance, behaviour, outstanding team spirit and many more). The staff, governors and children all enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch on Wednesday. Christmas is the only time in the year when we all dine together, which makes it a very special experience for all involved. A special thank you to Kiera and Clare (from Wheatley Lane) who work tirelessly all year round ensuring our children have access to high quality, healthy school meals. The children then enjoyed a very well deserved party, with a visitor from the North Pole bearing gifts.
Our final week of what has been a very busy Autumn Term started with our amazing Junior children performing at the Village Centre. Thank you to all those who were able to join us for their wonderful music concert – I’m certain you will agree, their singing was beautiful.
Emma from ‘Life Education’ visited school today and taught the children a variety of life skills, ranging from the importance of a healthy body and mind, to the dangers of medicines, alcohol, drugs and smoking – focusing on the importance of making good life choices. This links to our school Christian motto – ‘Therefore, Choose.’ The children’s highlight was of course meeting Harold the Giraffe. Emma commented on the children’s outstanding behaviour and enthusiasm.
It was lovely to see all the children in their Christmas jumpers today in support of ‘Save the Children’. The school looked incredibly festive and colourful. School raised lots of money for the children’s charity. If you didn’t contribute or wish to contribute more, please scan the QR code at the bottom of this week's newsletter and donate on our ‘Just Giving’ page.
Our Infant children thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the ‘Clip ‘n’ Climb’ walls at the Leisure Box this week, with many conquering their fear of heights. Miss Hall and Mrs Clarke were very impressed with their perseverance and determination to conquer the walls.
Our Infant children were amazing on Wednesday, with their wonderful production of ‘We Three Kings’. They sang beautifully and were captivating, performing with so much confidence and charisma. Thank you to all those families who were able to join us and for your continued support.
School enjoyed a wonderful day on Tuesday, when we focused on our school’s unique vision and some of the Christian values which underpin it. The children explored the relevance of our school vision and motto to their lives and explored the following values: Forgiveness, Friendship, Courage and Respect. They also explored the significance of the Cross as an important Christian symbol. Throughout the day, the children enjoyed a variety of activities including role-play & drama, being Bible detectives, making friendship bracelets, singing (including some fantastic gangster rap versions of our school prayer) and making their very own cross.
Joshua from Fitness Evolution (Burnley College) was in school today teaching our Junior children how to be effective play leaders. Part of their new role and responsibilities will be to arrange a variety of playground games for all our children to enjoy during playtimes and lunchtimes.
Well done Juniors! Joshua was very impressed with your listening skills, enthusiasm and overall behaviour.
As we come to the end of this term’s PE lessons at the Leisure Box, the school has arranged for all our children to use the Clip ‘n’ Climb walls. This is part of our enrichment provisions. The Junior children thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the walls this week, with many conquering their fear of heights. Miss Duxbury and Mrs Southern were very impressed with their climbing ability and perseverance. Our Infant children will be taking on the walls next week.
