It was lovely to see so many of you in church on this morning for our Leavers Service. It was wonderful to see the wide range of achievements being acknowledged (sports, academic progress, creativity, courtesy, music, determination, perseverance, behaviour, outstanding team spirit and many more).
Our overall Sports Day winners this year were St George – well done!
The whole school had an amazing day at BeWILDerwood yesterday. The children thoroughly enjoyed the vast range of various outdoor adventure activities, with the zip-lines and the giant sky maze being the highlights. Their behaviour was superb and it was wonderful to see the older children helping the younger children conquer the challenges. It was an absolute privilege to be with the children – they are simply FANTASTIC!
It was amazing to watch our Junior children on the big screen at the Burnley Youth Theatre on Tuesday evening. This was a very special experience and thank you to all those who were able to attend this event. The whole school enjoyed watching the film together this morning during our Celebration Assembly – please click on the link below to enjoy the film yourself:
Thank you to all those family members and friends who were able to join us for Sports Day last Friday afternoon. It was a wonderful afternoon, with all the children having a thoroughly enjoyable time. They participated within a wide range of races and displayed excellent behaviour and sportsmanship. Well done to St Patricks who triumphed victorious overall.
On Tuesday evening we all enjoyed our spectacular Junior production of ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’. The children sang beautifully and were captivating. I’m certain you enjoyed watching it just as much as the children enjoyed performing it. They have worked hard learning their parts with fantastic results. As stated on the evening, we are rightly proud of every single child and their performance. Thank you to the staff and all those who helped make this a very wonderful and memorable evening for the children. I would also like to thank Reverend Julie for allowing us to use St Thomas’ Church. It was wonderful to see the church full of all our families and friends. As stated, events like this is what makes Roughlee the amazing school it is!
The children thoroughly enjoyed Whitehough last Friday. It was amazing to watch the whole school working together to build dens and fires, and to overcome the fear of heights on the crate stack challenge. The children also enjoyed orienteering and archery and the weather was good. Following the success of this fantastic day and watching how the older children helped support and encourage the younger children we will certainly be arranging for the whole school to attend again next year. Thank you to all the staff for organising such a wonderful day and to all our families for your support on Friday.
