  • PAIS Team Worship

    Fri 22 Mar 2019

The PAIS Team led our worship on Wednesday based on Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” It was reassuring for the children to know that God has a plan for all of us and that he will provide us with the strength and courage to make the right choices – ‘Therefore, Choose’ .

  • Bishop Phillip's Visit

    Fri 22 Mar 2019

The children were in awe of Bishop Phillip yesterday, as he led our act of collective worship. He spoke to the children about how they have the power to change the world, by ensuring they treat people fairly and how they would like to be treated. He told the children the story of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, explaining that along with great power comes great responsibility. The children were in great voice and thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the actions to the story.

  • Police Visit – Online Safety

    Fri 22 Mar 2019

Three Police officers visited school and delivered age appropriate safety talks to all the children throughout school. The main focus of this was ‘online safety’ – linking to our recent Internet Safety Day. The children explored different strategies for keeping themselves safe online, but we can all help by being vigilant and monitoring what our children are being exposed to online. The Police officers also discussed cyberbullying and the importance of not watching inappropriate films/programmes or playing computer games – the children explored age certificates. The safety talks concluded with the children discussing what they should do if they see anything inappropriate online, on a phone or T.V. screen – report it immediately to an adult.

  • Ruth's Worship

    Fri 08 Mar 2019

Ruth led our act of collective worship on Wednesday, retelling the parable of the unforgiving servant (Matthew 18:21-35). The children explored the importance of treating others as they would want to be treated – linking to our focused Christian value. A special mention must be made to our outstanding actors - Elif-Leya, Lilly and Lewis Hacking-Fenn. Well done!

  • World Book Day 2019

    Fri 08 Mar 2019

The children looked fabulous in their costumes and pyjamas for World Book Day. They thoroughly enjoyed their reading activities and learning about the importance of not using digital devices before bedtime – as this can be extremely detrimental to their health and wellbeing.

Margaret had a very difficult task judging our reading challenge, due to the high standard of all the entries and the overwhelming number of participants. The children have certainly been very creative with their ideas of reading in an unusual place.  All the children who took part were rewarded with 5 team points and our overall challenge winners were Halima, Hugo, Amalie and George, who received a brand new reading book of their choice. Well done to everyone and thank you for supporting your child/ren with this challenge.

  • Burnley Pendleside Rotary Club

    Fri 01 Mar 2019

Bob from the Burnley Pendleside Rotary Club joined us for ‘Celebration Assembly’ this morning. They very kindly donated new high-visibility vests for school and a £250.00 donation towards our World Book Day activities.

  • Lent – Cape ‘n’ Rae Worship

    Fri 01 Mar 2019

As you will be aware, the Christian season of Lent is nearly upon us. In school we will be encouraging the children to reflect upon the true meaning of Lent and will be exploring this significant period in the lead up to Easter.

We will be running our Easter Bonnet and Easter Garden competition again this year, with all entries to be submitted by Tuesday 26th March 2019 – further details to follow.

Students studying the bible at Cape ‘n’ Rae, visited school yesterday and delivered a very interactive act of collective worship linked to Lent and Easter. The children thoroughly enjoyed their worship and sang beautifully.
