  • Mellow Yellow Day

    Mon 11 Oct 2021

As part of ’Mellow Yellow Day’ our children have explored a wide range of activities today focused on developing their emotional wellbeing and a positive mind-set. The children enjoyed learning about the importance of positive mental health and the importance of talking to someone if they are feeling sad or anxious. Throughout the year, school will continue to focus on developing the children’s mental health and wellbeing within their curriculum and throughout all aspects of school life. Thank you for your support – the children looked fabulous wearing items of yellow clothing.

Further information relating to children’s mental health can be found at www.youngminds.org.uk

  • Year 4 Multi-skills and Year 5 Orienteering

    Mon 11 Oct 2021

Some of our Year 4 children took part in a multi-skills event on Wednesday, enjoying a wide range of fun activities. Many of our Year 5 children also took part in an inter-schools orienteering event on Thursday. All our children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and displayed impeccable behaviour. It was a pleasure to take them out of school and compete against children from other local schools – they were a credit to school!

These events have been arranged through our continued participation within the Pendle Schools Sports Partnership and there will be opportunity throughout the year for every child to represent school in a range of inter-schools sporting events.

  • Blue for the Loo

    Fri 01 Oct 2021

School was awash with blue today as we celebrated ‘Blue for the Loo’ day. Reverend Julie joined us in school exploring a wide range of water related issues, including the importance of water conservation, climate change and water sanitisation – all these had a link to toilets. Thank you for all your generous donations – we raised £43.33, which will go towards twinning a school toilet with a toilet in Africa.

Reverend Julie also enjoyed a delicious school dinner with our Junior class.

S7 Soccer Academy visit us every Autumn term, teaching the children various elements of their curriculum through football. Coaches Andy and Daniel from S7 Soccer Academy have been in school this week teaching the children a variety of literacy skills through football. All the children thoroughly enjoyed their sessions and the coaches were very impressed with their enthusiasm, knowledge, behaviour and team spirit. This was so pleasing to hear and is indicative of what life at Roughlee is all about.
