Below are some suggestions for activities that you can do with your child at home over Easter.  There are a variety of activities that focus on spending quality time together in the difficult and strange time we are all experiencing.

There are also many practical aspects you could involve your children in such as cooking, baking, tidying and gardening.

If you would like to send photos of your children doing any of the activities, please email them to myself or the school so we can put them on our school website, a great way to keep in touch with each other!

Stay safe and happy, Miss Hall

Home Learning

In addition to the packs sent home with children when school was closed, please remember there is a lot of online learning that can be done.  Your child has been allocated work that can be completed on the websites we use in school, their usernames and passwords were sent home with the packs.  If you are having difficulty with these sites please email school.

Active Learn Primary - has reading books online that are the same as their school reading books.  Throughout the book there are green bugs that will ask questions for your child to answer.  Once they have done this the eyes of the bug will be closed.  Only when all the bugs eyes are closed will the book be completed and your child will receive the coins for reading.  On this site there are also maths, spelling and grammar games.

TT Rockstars  / Numbots - TT Rockstars has times tables your child should be learning in their year group.  Numbots has number games to play for all ages.

IDL - if your child was given an IDL login they may continue to progress through the lessons at home.

Purple Mash - there are many different subjects on here.  Children may wish to continue to create their animated books, create a new story, play maths or spelling games.  If they wish to share their work they can submit it to the display board.  After saving, click on the world logo, they have done this in class.

Welcome to our class page!

This page is for our Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 children who make up the infants class.  We will be putting regular updates on here showing what the children are doing throughout the year.

Spring Term 2 - Learning overviews

The children have made their own printing block following their design. They then painted their block to create a pattern.

To understand what it must have been like for blind Bartimaeus, the children experienced what it must be like not to be able to see.

Reception children have been exploring repeating patterns and trying to spot them

Warburtons visit

The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit from Sue who works at Warburtons.  The session covered healthy eating, safe food preparation and food waste.  The children had a fabulous time creating their own sandwiches to take home.  They looked delicious!

Spring Term 1 - Overview of the term

Our reception children have been recognising and continuing patterns in maths.  Year 1 have been sorting shapes and other items into Venn diagrams and explaining the reasons for putting shapes where they did.

Maths through football

Soccer Academy have been in to school again to teach the children football skills.  They then completed a football quiz based on maths skills

Pet Week!

The children enjoyed bringing their pets in to school and seeing other children's pets.  They talked about what their pet eats, how they exercise, what they do for fun and where they sleep.  The childen enjoyed telling each other fun things about their pets too.  Thank you to all those who brought your pets in.

Seasons and the weather

Throughout the year the children will be looking at the seasons, changes that happen in the environment and the changes in the weather.  They will be looking at how light or dark it is when they get up and go to bed.

In order to understand more about the weather, they made windy weather toys then took them outside to see how windy it was and which way the wind was blowing.

Learning through play

Our new reception children have settled in really well.  They have been having great fun learning through play inside and outside.

Roald Dahl Day

The children loved dressing up as Roald Dahl characters and bringing along props for their character.  There was lots of different characters.

Reading and counting at home

Year 1 and 2 parents, we ask that you hear your child read a little every day and talk to them about the book.

Reception children will have a book with no words that they can tell a story about. They will also have sound cards to bring home. Please encourage them to say the sounds the letters make. They can also be used to make simple words with. If you would like more information about these please speak to us.

All children are encouraged to count objects around them and look at numbers they may see in their environment.

'Wow' moments!

Reception children have brought home letters about 'wow' moments. Please feel free to share anything your child has done that they or you are proud of, no matter how small it seems, on the slips sent home. If you would like more slips they are located on the window inside the classroom door.

Spellings and homework

Year 1 and 2 children will bring spellings home each Monday and the will be tested on these each Friday. Please try to go through these with your child throughout the week.

Homework is sent each Friday and is due in the following Monday. If your child is struggling with their homework please let us know.
