Infants

Welcome to our Class Page!

This page is for our Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 children who make up the infants class.  We will be putting regular updates on here showing what the children are doing throughout the year.

Reverend Julie came in to school to Baptise one of the classes dolls. The chldren decided to call her Rosie May. They picked parents who then picked God parents. Reverend Julie brought a font and blessed the water in order to carry out the Baptism. The children really enjoyed taking part and leearning all about being Baptised.

Below are the overviews of what the children will be learning this half term.

Year 1 and 2 have been learning about play scripts. They have been thinking how the characters may act when saying lines. They then tried to add stage direction to script.

Reception children have enjoyed making lots of words using the sounds they know.

Below are the overviews of what we intend to learn this half term.

We have been learning about first aid and how we can all play our part. We learned about what to do if someone is choking, bleeding a lot and if they have injured their head. Ask your child if they can remember what to do.

Reception children have been threading and making necklaces with beads. They have also been making crowns and other headwear.

Continuing with our printing. The children made their own printing blocks then created their own printed patterns.

We had a great time exploring printing with different objects.

Year 1 and 2 have been learning about different measures and how to measure accurately. They then compared their measurements and ordered them in size.

Our Reception children have been following and using language of position, putting the teddy in different places. They have also been making and writing number sentences to 5.

These overviews show the intend learning for the first half of the Spring term.

Our Year 1 children have been learning about ordinal numbers in maths. They put cars in number order then had a race and worked out what position they came.

The children have been learning about body parts and what they are used for. They have been exploring using their senses. They carried out a smell investiation where they had to work out what was in the (clean) sock just by smelling. Some were easier to guess than others and some had a much better smell than others!

These overviews show our intended learning for this half term.

Our Reception children have been exploring patterns in maths. They talked about what they could see and what colour or item would come next.

Children in Year 1 and 2 have been using the iPads to look at the local area. They had to tell their partner things they could see in the local area using Google maps. They really enjoyed exploring the local area virtually.

We have been having a brilliant time at the Leisure Box doing PE. The children have been exploring moving like lots of different animals. They have also been practising their over arm throwing.

These overviews shows our intended learning for this half term. There is one for Reception and one for Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2).

Our Reception children have settled in really well. They have enjoyed exploring the classroom and the yard.
