Infants

Welcome to our Class Page!

This page is for our Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 children who make up the infants class.  We will be putting regular updates on here showing what the children are doing throughout the year.

Below are the overviews of what we will be learning during the first Summer Term.

The reception children had a lovely time making playdough. They measured the ingredients, mixed it really well then enjoyed playing with it.

We have been learning about the Easter Story and the importance of the cross to Christians. We folded paper to make our own crosses which are hanging on our prayer tree until Easter.

In science the children have been learning about materials. They have identified materials all around the school. They investigated different liquids, identifying them, comparing them and thinking about how thick they were and whether could be stirred.

These overviews explain what the children will be learning about this half term - Spring 2.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue service came in to school this week to speak to us. They explained to the children what they do. They talked about the importance of checking smoke alarms work, having a fire escape plan and children knowing their address and postcode.

The infant class had a super time at Blackpool Zoo. We were very lucky with the weather and there were lots of animals for us to see. The children all enjoyed seeing different animals and looking at their features.

These overviews show what we intend to learn during the first Spring term.

Below are the overviews of what we will be learning this half term.

We have been reading the book Silly Billy. The story is about a boy called Billy who is worried about lots of different things. His Grandma gives him worry dolls and this inspires him to make his own. We researched where worry dolls originate, their colours and patterns. We then explore using different media to recreate the patterns.

Our new Reception children have settled in really well. They have been using lots of different things and are trying to work together.

These overviews show what the children will be learning this half term. If your child does any learning or activities related to anything on these please feel free to send it in or a photo for your chil to talk about.
