Reverend Julie joined us in school this afternoon and enjoyed a wonderful toilet party with the children to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of Toilet Twinning. This follows on from our ‘Blue for the Loo’ day, when the children learnt about the importance of water conservation and hygiene. The children have decided to twin one of our school toilets with Nigeria using the money they have already raised. As part of this afternoon’s party, the children have played a variety of games and the Children in Need winners had the privilege of playing a once in a lifetime game of toilet roll dodgeball against Miss Lord and Mr Elliott. The whole school seemed to really enjoy this experience, not too sure about the adults!
The day concluded with Reverend Julie very kindly providing every child with a delicious homemade toilet themed cake – thank you Reverend Julie.
School was awash with colour today, as the children wore their spots with pride in aid of Children in Need. They all looked superb! Thank you for all your support in creating such wonderful outfits.
The winners of our design your own spotty outfit competition were:
Infants: Florence, Genevieve and Aminah
Juniors: Scarlett, Aaliyah, Kian and Lilly
Thank you for your continued support and donations, we raised a ‘spotacular’ £91. This money will go directly to Children in Need in order to help those children less fortunate than ourselves. School provided all our children with a special Children’s in Need wristband and a delicious treat.
Some of our Junior children represented school on Tuesday, when they participated in a kurling event against children from other local schools. The children were superb. We are hoping to borrow the kurling equipment from the Schools Sports Partnership in order for all our children to experience what is a fantastic sport.
The children and staff shared a very special Remembrance assembly in school yesterday, with the children observing the two-minute silence admirably. Moments like this remind all the staff just how wonderful it is to be a part of the Roughlee family. Thank you.
