Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
On Wednesday, our Year 6 children represented our school admirably at a Rotakids Sharing Event organised by Pendle Rotary, held at the Higher Trapp Hotel. At the event, our children shared all the wonderful charity work we have participated in this year and all the events we have done for the local village and school community. The children were amazing and thoroughly enjoyed their well-deserved lunch.
On Tuesday, we enjoyed a ‘Rubbish Day’ organised by Reverend Julie. Throughout the day the children explored the Story of Creation from Genesis and how the Bible tells us to be good stewards of God’s amazing world. The children enjoyed making Earth Day Marshmallows and Dirt Puddings, as they explored ways they can look after the Earth. They also created some fantastic junk models using recyclable materials. Throughout the day, the children focused on the 3 R’s – REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE. The day concluded with a fabulous game of compost bingo and we twinned our kitchen bin with a refuge centre in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our support is helping to fund social enterprise that helps creates jobs for over 4000 people who are employed to collect plastic waste and recycle it into brooms and paving blocks.
The children thoroughly enjoyed Whitehough last Friday; it was a wonderful day and the weather was glorious. It was amazing to watch children of all ages working together to solve problems and to overcome some people’s fear of heights on the crate stack challenge. The children also enjoyed orienteering, the low ropes, obstacle course and archery. Thank you to all the staff for organising such a wonderful day and to all our families for your support on Friday.
Our Reception children are very happy with our new sand pit.
Thank you to all those who joined us for our FORS Sponsored Walk this afternoon. It was an enjoyable afternoon for all involved and the children raised an astonishing amount of money for FORS. This money will be spent directly on the children to provide the vast range of enrichment opportunities we are very fortunate to be able to provide free of charge, i.e. our Whitehough Trip next week. A huge thank you to all those who very kindly sponsored our children – it is greatly appreciated
