Thank you to all those who were able to join us on Wednesday for our Music Concert at the Village Centre. The children looked fabulous in their costumes and pyjamas yesterday. They thoroughly enjoyed their ‘World Book Day’ reading activities and learning about the importance of not using digital devices before bedtime – as this significantly affects the quality of their much-needed sleep. They also enjoyed a very special World Book Day Lunch – thank you Kiera!
As always, it was a very difficult task judging the children’s wonderful costumes, but after much deliberation, prizes were awarded to: Safaa, Eesa, Fatima, Aamina, Ruby, Dhakirah and Eiliyah. School enjoyed a wonderful day on Tuesday, when we focused on our school’s unique Christian vision and some of the Christian values which underpin it. The children explored the relevance of our school vision, mission statement and motto to their lives and explored our focused Christian values. Throughout the day, the children enjoyed a variety of activities including role-play & drama, being Bible detectives, arts & crafts, singing and making their very own videos.
Wow, what an exciting, fun and extremely busy week in school. This week we have had a focus on Art and Mrs Clarke (our Art Subject Leader) organised a wonderful Art Week. The children were placed in mixed aged groups and focused on two distinctive styles of art – Pop Art and Post Impressionism (creating a Starry Night). They also focused on two specific artists – Andy Warhol and Vincent Van Gogh. They explored printing, by using a range of stamps and creating their own stamps using fruit, vegetables, clay and polystyrene. The children also explored using a range of pastels and paints to create various brush strokes and effects. Their art work is amazing and will be proudly displayed in school.
